Life is a journey and our bodies tell the story. Motherhood has shown me this more than anything. Sport and activity have always been a part of my life. From my first T-ball game, to dance, to lifting weights in the gym. As I got older my body started changing and I realized it takes work to be healthy.
I was lucky enough to live In Melbourne Australia for nearly four years. I started working with a personal trainer there and realized this was my passion. So I enrolled in a program to get certified as a personal trainer at the Australian Institute of Fitness. I was fortunate to have been living where such a program existed. It has been over a decade and I’ve never looked back!!
Being in the fitness industry as long as I have, you acquire certain skills through experience and education. Most people have some sort of injury or restriction in their movement pattern. To become good at exercise you must master the basics. This means correcting any imbalances that may cause you pain now or in your future. I have trained clients for goals such as bikini competitions, weight loss, strength, endurance and the one thing that has been consistent is starting where your body allows. This could mean rehabbing a shoulder, decreasing back pain, correcting posture or just simply creating a neuromuscular connection so you are able to exercise with the correct form.
I enjoy taking clients from wherever they are in their fitness journey to their true potential. Teaching is a huge part of my training style. There is no magic fix. It’s hard work in the gym accompanied by a healthy lifestyle.
I have had the privilege of training with Chantelle three times a week for a year. I don't think I am the easiest client Chantelle has had either! I have been recovering from a serious illness, limited mobility from an accident, and a new diagnosis of Celiac Disease. I often show up for my sessions stressed and grumbling, but after each session I feel renewed and regenerated. Chantelle's positive attitude and energy are contagious. She is so encouraging and brings out the very best in me. She inspires me to not give up, and to believe that I have more in me than I think. Because of her knowledge of nutrition, wellness and training, I have taken great strides in my physical health. I am stronger and have more energy to cope with the challenges life brings. I often say that she has changed my life! Thank you Chantelle!
I was referred to Chantelle before a trekking trip to Nepal because I was worried I wouldn’t be able to hike up and down the steep terrain. Just walking down the street was becoming painful. Chantelle saved my life. She recognized right away that I needed first to get some mobility back before we could do any exercising. Then she focused on the muscles that were no longer working from years of sitting in front of a computer. In a few short months, not only was able to hike happily on my holiday to Nepal, I am pain free and moving way more freely. I’ve lost weight and feel 400% better than I did when I walked in for my consultation. Chantelle is a professional and very knowledgeable and supportive. I trust that she won’t push me too far or get me to do something that will lead to injury. I highly recommend her for anyone wanting to do the work to deal with injuries and difficulties with movement. BTW I‘m 60 years old so I can also say she works well with people of all ages!
Chantelle is that trainer that you hate but love. She puts you through these amazing, challenging workouts that make you sweat, and I mean SWEAT, but you see the results! I trained with Chantelle for 4 months, and in that time period I reached my goal weight, gained muscle mass, set new PR's, and can physically feel and see the results. She made me feel confident in my workouts and help me achieve my goals. She is an awesome trainer and is so informative and attentive with her clients. She knows when she can push you and when she needs to modify the workouts based on any injury or soreness you have that day. I am so thankful and grateful to have had the opportunity to train with Chantelle! Get Chantelle as your trainer you will not be disappointed!!
I had Chantelle as my personal trainer for 4 months. Chantelle as my personal trainer. Chantelle took a genuine interest in my training, focused on the objectives I set for myself, tailored my workouts to fit my needs, and always with a positive attitude. When we started I had limited mobility and strength in my shoulders and lacked core strength. I was unable to do certain exercises due to pain in my left shoulder. I was unable to enjoy certain activities like ice hockey as I was constantly fighting one injury or another. Since working with Chantelle, my mobility, flexibility and strength have significantly improved and increased. In particular, I have increased the range of motion in my shoulders and am pretty much pain free. Chantelle recommended I get physiotherapy and worked with my physiotherapist to develop a training program that has allowed me to recuperate and strengthen my shoulder. She has also focused on building up my core strength which has drastically reduced the incidence and severity of any injuries I may sustain while playing hockey. In addition to the positive health and fitness benefits, I generally just feel better about myself. I attribute much of this to Chantelle and highly recommend her as a personal trainer.
Almost a year ago I started my goal to lose some weight and gain overall fitness. My weight started at 180lb and I last weighed in at 147lb also gaining lots of muscle. Chantelle has given me the motivation and knowledge in both fitness and nutrition to help me reach that goal. I have gained strength and determination, ensuring that it remains a lifestyle transition rather than a short term change. Chantelle is very personable, fun and likeable and would recommend her to anyone to help achieve personal targets.
